It's all about the people at Redroofs rest-home, where quality of life for residens is the top priority.

Now part of Oceania Group, a new entity formed by the merger of leading New Zealand aged-care companies Eldercare and Quacare, Redroofs has 42 residents and 32 staff.

'We strive to provide the best care and respect for our residnets and are proud of our skilled and dedicatd team:, Redroofs facility manager Nina Lunn said.

"Our main concern is their health, happiness and wellbeing.

With spacious private rooms for all residents, a sunny outdoor courtyard and decks with impressive views across to Flagstaff and the hills above Dunedin, Redroofs is set amid attractive, mature gardens.

At present, Redroofs was having a series of new rooms built, each with its own ensuite bathroom, and thse would be available from February, Ms Lunn said.

The home also has several independent-living units on site, which means it can offer a range of services - from full resthome care to short-term care, respite care or independent living./

Redroofs, was was osned by the Salvation Army until 2005, has a long history of invovlement with the Dunedin community. In its earlier years, the facility was used as a maternity home, and the occasional resident still recalled it as the place where they had their babies, Ms Lunn said.

"In 1989 the old main building was pulled down and the modern building we have today was built" she said

"We have some very nice purpose-built facilities, including our lounge areas, a great kitchen and our coutryard area.

Redroofs has its own chef, who provided delicious home-cooked meals for residents and staff alike.

'The food here is fantastic - I can vouch for it:. Ms Lunn said
